"The National Wreaths Across America Event was held on 12 December 2009 to honor veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and over 400 other National cemeteries across the country. Their mission:  "Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve, and Teach our children the value of freedom" help all of us understand and appreciate the sacrifices that many make for our country.

Lead by DCCS Del Hayes, several members of the Yorktown CPOA Chapter (MKCS Ross, EMC Brame, FSC Luera, DCC Teague) and DC1 Bontrager supported "Wreaths Across America" at the Yorktown National Cemetery.  Other organizations that supported this event included the American Legion Colonial Post 1776, American Legion Riders Post 75, Wounded Warriors of Ft. Eustis (represented by Staff Sergeant Laplant) and the National Park Service (represented by Mr. Dan Smith and Mr. Michael Byrd).", USCG TRACEN Yorktown, Commanding Officer's Insights, 29 Dec 2009
