FROM THE PRESIDENT

 The generosity and hard work of this Chapter never ceases to amaze me. In March we hold a car wash for a junior TRACEN member in need that raised over $1,300, and then this morning the Chapter collected over $3,000 for little Morgan Raye Vitou. I want to thank everyone who donated and helped collect donations for this important cause. I especially want to thank Senior Chief Krahn and Chief Colbert for organizing the effort. We all know the Morgan Raye and her family will appreciate it. Chief Limneos and I are putting the finishing touches on our 2008 Chapter of the Year Package. It is amazing to see how much this Chapter does for the base, the Coast Guard, and the local community every year. You can see from the Chapter News in this newsletter how much we have been doing recently. I will bring our book to the July 2^nd General membership Meeting if you want to see it. After that it goes in the mail.  Convention is coming. August 18-22 to be exact. Chief McDade and I will be representing the Chapter in Houston this year. The National Board of Directors Resolutions were printed in the April issue of The CHIEF. I encourage all of you to read them before our July meeting, and let us know how you feel about the issues. Chief McDade and I want your input.  Finally, I want to wish CWO Dan Justis fair winds and following seas, and welcome aboard EMCS Keith Wiehrs, our new Chapter Treasurer. As most of you know, Chief Dan Justis recently promoted to CWO and is departing Yorktown this Summer. Thanks again sir for all your hard work on behalf of the Chapter these last two years. I hope everyone has a great summer.
