Good Afternoon,

In March the Yorktown Chapter of the Chief Petty Officer Association (CPOA) and the Yorktown Chief’s Mess sponsored an essay contest to coincide with the 2008 Spotlight on Leadership. The essays had to be related to one of four leadership competencies highlighted in this year’s Spotlight on Leadership, and one winner was selected from each of the three following groups:

1. E-6 and Below

2. E-7 through E-9

3. CWO-2 through O-3

The winners were:

Blueprint to Influence by LTJG Garrett Meyer, Influencing Others by ETCM Blake Mabe, Influence Others, Not Control by SK2 Chandra Almodovar

Each winner received a check for $100. In the attached pictures MCPO Mark Pearson, President of the Yorktown Chapter of the CPOA, is presenting ETCM Blake Mabe and SK2 Chandra Almodovar with their checks.
