The Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) provides a wide range of services to the citizens of Virginia.  What we are best known for is providing unemployment insurance to people who have been laid off or have lost their jobs due to no fault of their own.  What is not known is that the VEC provides help and assistance to job seekers on how to develop an effective resume, provide knowledge of how to effectively search for jobs and interview, local and statewide labor market information, and staff assisted job searches.

The VEC also has within most of their offices, Veteran Employment Representatives that provide the above-mentioned services to veterans – retired, separated and transitioning service members.  The Williamsburg office has 3 veteran representatives you can contact for help and/or advice on your resume and career information.  The VEC also has offices in Hampton, Norfolk, and Chesapeake VA.  We can also provide information on veteran representatives from other states that may be helpful to you when you are leaving the military.

To contact the Veteran’s Representatives at the Williamsburg office please contact the following people: Dan Miller at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , Doug Harshbarger at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or Dutch Schoenfeld at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it .  You can contact us by calling Doug Harshbarger at 757-253-4259, Dutch Schoenfeld at 757-253-4792 or Dan Miller at 757-253-4189.
